Ashton Marra

Ashton Marra is Co-Director of Reporting on Addiction and the executive editor of 100 Days in Appalachia, a nonprofit, collaborative newsroom telling the complex stories of a region that deserve to be heard. She is also a teaching assistant professor at West Virginia University where her expertise lies in news writing, video storytelling and social media.

They have been a journalism educator for 5+ years and professional journalist working at local, regional, and national outlets for the past decade.

 

Jonathan JK Stoltman

Jonathan JK Stoltman is Co-Director of Reporting on Addiction and Director of the Opioid Policy Institute. In 2019, they completed their PhD in Lifespan Developmental Psychology from West Virginia University and has worked as a researcher focusing on opioid addiction treatment and recovery since 2013. Jonathan’s academic work has appeared in leading journals and national conferences.

Their current work focuses on addiction stigma, the media, and digital approaches to addiction treatment.

Meg Vogel

Meg Vogel works as a staff photographer for The Cincinnati Enquirer, where she focuses on documentary photo and video storytelling. There, she was a member of a team of journalists who won a 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Seven Days of Heroin. In 2018, Vogel was named one of the 30 Under 30 Top Women Photographers in the world. Her work has been recognized by organizations like World Press Photo, the National Edward R. Murrow Awards, Best of Photojournalism, National Press Photographers Association, Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Ohio News Photographer Association and Associated Press. She graduated from Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication in 2013.

 

Marc Jackson

Marc Jackson is a transition agent with Jobs and Hope WV, covering Monongalia, Marion, Preston, and Taylor counties, and is a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist. He celebrated his 18th year in recovery this year. Prior to his current role, Marc was a community engagement specialist and peer recovery support specialist at the Harrison County Community Corrections Department. During that time, he served on the state and federal drug court treatment teams, which he still serves on at the federal level. He is a former member of the board of directors of the West Virginia Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, chair of the peer recovery committee and co-chair for the public policy committee, and is currently on the West Virginia Governor’s Substance Abuse Recovery subcommittee.
